Established in 1999 we have a core team of 8 members of staff that operate across all areas of Warrington, as well as a board of trustees. We are part of a national organisation, but operate as an independent charity and raise all our own funds.
We have a team of trained volunteers, who offer support to families in their own homes for 3 hours a week.
I have been involved with Home Start Warrington since its inception in 1997. During this time, I have held many roles on the management committee and have also been involved with the work of Home Starts regionally and Home Start UK. During all this, the one thing that has always struck me is the passion from everyone involved.
I have worked in the voluntary sector in Warrington for over 20 years and now work regionally for a national charity.
I live in Warrington with my husband and have 2 daughters and 1 granddaughter, all of whom at one time or another I’ve roped in to support Home Start!

My voluntary experience has been in my local primary school, the Air Cadets and currently as a trustee with Home Start.
I moved to Warrington to be an active Grandfather to my two grand children. Previous experience of being a social care commissioner for a local authority in the West Midlands and before that as a social worker, has given me an understanding of some of the pressures on families and therefore my determination to support the work of Home-Start.
I was asked to be a trustee of Warrington Home-Start after putting my details on a web site run by Warrington voluntary Action, my background in local authority commissioning being felt to be of particular relevance to the trustee board.
I enjoy many other interests such as photography, classical music, tying to keep fit, and more recently I have been active in supporting the creation of a new University of the Third Age(U3A) for Lymm and Thelwall.

I joined Home-Start in 2006 as a Family Support Co-ordinator and later progressed to Scheme Manager in 2009. I feel very passionate about Home-Start as I feel we really get to the root of families difficulties by being privileged to visit them in their own homes. My role is to ensure the smooth running of the scheme and to make sure we are offering a quality service to both families and volunteers.
In my spare time I like to spend time with my family. I enjoy walking and have recently started to play tennis. As a way to relax I enjoy reading and knitting.
I’ve been with Home-Start Warrington since November 2010 and my role as Development office is to ensure we have enough funds to operate. I thoroughly enjoy working for Home-Start as I can see the direct impact we have on families lives and especially on ensuring children have the best start in life.
